Indian Army Recruitment 2023: Type of Commission

Permanent Commission
A Permanent Commission means a career in the Army till you retire. For Permanent Commission, you have to join National Defence Academy, Pune or Indian Military Academy, Dehradun or Officers Training Academy, Gaya.
Short Service Commission
You have the option of Join Indian Army Recruitment and serving as a Commissioned Officer for 10 years / 14 years. At the end of 10 years, you have 3 options. Either elect for a Permanent Commission or opt-out or have the option of 4 years extension. They can resign at any time during this period of 4 years extension.

Female candidates who have passed MSc (Nursing) /PB B Sc (Nursing)/B Sc(Nursing) and must be a citizen of India can Join the Armed Forces as Short Service Commissioned Officer in the Military Nursing Service (MNS).

Indian Army Military Nursing Service Eligibility Criteria:

Age: Between 01st October 1995 and 30th September 2003 (This Age Limit for MNS 2020)

Indian Army Recruitment 2023: Medical Examination in Officer Selection

Shortlisted Candidates have to appear for Medical Examination Procedure at Selection Centres.

General Procedure

After the SSB Result, Recommended candidates appear before the medical board for carrying out their medical board. Military Hospital takes 4 to 5 days to complete the medical board and after that, the candidates are dispersed. NDA candidates are examined both for Army and Navy unless otherwise instructed and endorsement of fitness status will be made accordingly. President of the medical board will guide the candidates for Appeal/Review Medical Board procedures. In case the Candidate has been declared unfit, He may seek the advice of the President Special Medical Board for review or appeal.

Procedure of Appeal Medical Board

The Appeal Medical Board will be performed at Any one hospital out of 8 following hospitals.

INHS, Ashvini, Mumbai.
Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt.
Command Hospital, Air Force, Bangalore.
Command Hospital, Southern Command, Pune.
Command Hospital, Eastern Command, Kolkata.
Command Hospital, Northern Command, C/o 56 APO.
Command Hospital, Central Command, Lucknow.
Command Hospital, Western Command, Chandimandir.

Candidates will report for a checkup within the stipulated period i.e., 42 days from the date last examined by the Special Medical Board for re-examination together with the receipted copy of the MRO/ TR as directed by the President Medical Board. The Intention is to finish the Medical Board on the same day.

Review Medical Board

If Appeal Medical Board has been declared unfit, Candidate can challenge the medical proceedings and can be granted review for he same supported the merit of the case. Candidate can request for a review to Recruiting Directorate (Personnel & Coord), Army Headquarters, West Block III, RK Puram, New Delhi and the same will inform to President of Appeal Medical Board within one-day of conducting of Appeal Medical Board. Application for Review Medical Board are routed through DG AFMS and decision is on DG AFMS & is not be claimed as a matter of right. RMBs are held at R&R Hospital Delhi & AFMC, Pune.

If Medical Examination is scheduled later date for any reason then Candidate should have their own arrangements.
